Silves celebrates World Tourism Day with carob-themed events

The municipality of Silves is marking World Tourism Day 2026 with a program centered on the carob industry, a key regional product. Activities include the opening of the photographic exhibition ‘Alfarroba: Memória(s) de uma Vida’ by Luísa Melão at Fábrica do Inglês, alongside a showcase of carob-related products and materials. The program features a roundtable discussion regarding the challenges and opportunities facing the carob sector, followed by immersive experiences through the ‘Trilhos da Alfarroba’ trails.

In regional sporting news, the 2026 Rallye Casinos do Algarve is scheduled for October 2 and 3. Organized by the Clube Automóvel do Algarve, the event will pass through Silves, Messines, São Marcos da Serra, Lagoa, Lagos, Portimão, and Ourique. The competition is part of the Portuguese Rally Championship (CPR).

Additionally, the 2026 Rali Municípios do Funchal e Câmara de Lobos concluded with Miguel Nunes and João Paulo winning in a Skoda Fabia RS Rally2, finishing with a time of 47 minutes, 51.1 seconds.
