Silvi Mayor dissolves municipal council after official assault
The municipality of Silvi is facing a severe political crisis following a violent confrontation between local officials. The incident occurred after a majority party meeting, where Urban Planning Councilor Gianpaolo Lella allegedly physically assaulted Vice Mayor Luciana Di Marco. Following the altercation, Di Marco required medical attention, and Lella submitted his resignation.
In response to the incident and the resulting breakdown in administrative stability, Mayor Andrea Scordella has dissolved the entire municipal council (giunta). The Mayor described the event as “a shameful episode” and stated that the dissolution was a necessary step to restore credibility and allow for a calm analysis of the political situation.
The opposition has also protested the administration's instability, occupying seats reserved for the council during a recent session and displaying signs reading “VERGOGNA” (shame). Local and regional political bodies, including the Commission for Equal Opportunities of the Province of Teramo, have condemned the violence and called for institutional clarity.
