Silvia Apostolova trial for counterfeit luxury goods delayed
The trial against Silvia Apostolova, known as Sis Apostolova, has faced repeated delays in the Plovdiv District Court. For nearly six months, attempts to begin the proceedings have failed, with the most recent session postponed due to the absence of a presiding judge.
Apostolova is accused of the large-scale online sale of counterfeit goods bearing trademarks from major international brands, including Nike, Puma, Kenzo, Gucci, Versace, and Bottega Veneta. The total value of the goods involved is estimated at approximately 998,697.30 BGN. The prosecution alleges that she sold clothing, footwear, bags, and accessories through dedicated Facebook pages and social media profiles at prices significantly lower than original products.
Law enforcement operations, including a specialized raid by the GD BOP in March 2025, resulted in the seizure of thousands of counterfeit items and electronic devices. This is not Apostolova's first legal encounter regarding trademark infringement; she previously reached a settlement with the prosecution involving a suspended sentence and financial penalties. A new attempt to start the trial is expected in the autumn.
