Silvia d’Amico, influential Italian film producer, dies
Silvia d’Amico, a prominent Italian film producer and screenwriter, has died in Rome at the age of 85 or 86. The daughter of screenwriter Suso Cecchi d’Amico and musicologist Fedele d’Amico, she was a central figure in Italian cinema and television.
Throughout her career, d’Amico collaborated with major directors, most notably Roberto Rossellini, for whom she produced ‘Anno Uno’ (1974) and ‘Il Messia’ (1975). Her extensive filmography includes works by Mario Monicelli, such as ‘Le due vite di Mattia Pascal’ and ‘Verona’, as well as projects by Luigi Magni and Lina Wertmüller.
In addition to her film work, she was instrumental in television, contributing to successful series like ‘La famiglia Benvenuti’. Her professional journey began in the early 1960s as a screenwriter and later expanded into production and talent agency involvement.
