Silvia Ederra, Spanish handball star, dies at 43

Spanish handball player Silvia Ederra Urra has passed away at the age of 43 following a long illness. A prominent figure in women's handball, Ederra enjoyed a distinguished career spanning nearly two decades.

Ederra was a key player for several major Spanish clubs, including Itxako, where she spent 14 seasons, Mar Alicante, Castro Urdiales, Sporting La Rioja, and Bera Bera. During her professional career, she secured five leagues, three Copas de la Reina, and five Supercopas de España. She also represented the Spanish national team, earning a bronze medal at the European Junior Championship in Finland.

Various organizations have expressed their condolences, including the Royal Spanish Handball Federation, the Navarra Handball Federation, Sporting La Rioja, and Anaitasuna. The Spanish Handball Federation described her as a passionate player whose presence left an indelible mark on the sport.
