Silvia Salis declines role as unifier for progressive coalition

Silvia Salis, the Mayor of Genoa, has stated that the current conditions are not suitable for her to accept a proposal to act as a “federatrice” (unifier) for the “campo largo” (broad field) progressive coalition.

During an interview, Salis argued that the ongoing debate within the progressive camp has lost sight of the central issue: presenting a concrete program to the country. She noted that internal competition regarding the demands of the progressive movement has become redundant and distracting.

Addressing political identity, Salis clarified that while she may hold moderate views on certain topics, she identifies as a progressive. She also commented on the necessity of a united field, suggesting that victory can be achieved through a unified approach rather than focusing solely on the center or the left.
