Silvia Salis excluded from Salone Nautico ribbon-cutting ceremony
Controversy has erupted following the exclusion of Genoa Mayor Silvia Salis from the official ribbon-cutting ceremony at the Salone Nautico. While Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni shared the stage with Liguria Region President Marco Bucci and Confindustria Nautica President Piero Formenti, Salis remained in the audience.
Italian deputies from the Democratic Party (Pd) have demanded explanations from Palazzo Chigi, noting that the exclusion of the mayor of the host city appears to be an institutional slight. They pointed out the inconsistency in the organizers' explanation, as President Bucci was permitted on stage despite claims that the ceremony did not include the mayor or the regional president.
Sources close to the Prime Minister suggest Meloni was surprised and disappointed by the absence, reportedly questioning the organizers during the event. Confindustria Nautica President Piero Formenti stated he was not responsible for the ceremony's schedule and expressed a desire to avoid being drawn into political campaigning, though he acknowledged the event is the mayor's 'home'.
