Silvia Tomasa Rivera wins Inés Arredondo Literature Prize

Silvia Tomasa Rivera has been awarded the 2026 Inés Arredondo Fine Arts Literature Prize for her extensive literary career spanning over four decades. The award was presented by the Mexican Secretariat of Culture and the National Institute of Fine Arts and Literature (INBAL), in collaboration with the Government of Sinaloa and the Autonomous University of Sinaloa.

The jury recognized Rivera for a poetic body of work that explores themes of memory, the Mexican countryside, and women's freedom. Her writing has been noted for addressing social inequality, power structures, and the impact of violence on individual and collective life, utilizing a wide range of rhythmic styles.
