Silvio Santos' daughters manage transition of SBT empire
Following the death of television icon Silvio Santos, the Grupo Silvio Santos empire is undergoing a major leadership transition. His six daughters—Cíntia, Silvia, Daniela, Patrícia, Rebeca, and Renata—are now directly managing the conglomerate, including the major broadcaster SBT.
This transition has faced public scrutiny. Recently, singer Zezé Di Camargo criticized the presence of political figures at the launch of SBT News, suggesting a shift away from the political neutrality maintained by his father. In response to the backlash, which included the cancellation of the singer's Christmas special, SBT leadership issued an open letter defending their commitment to pluralism and impartial journalism.
In a separate reflection on the network's history, entertainer Sérgio Mallandro recalled advising Silvio Santos against running for the presidency in 1989. Mallandro noted that during a meeting with the 'Show de Calouros' judges, he was the only one to suggest that the presenter avoid entering politics.
