Sim Soo-bong performs on EBS following controversy over remarks toward junior singer

Singer Sim Soo-bong made her first television appearance following a recent controversy involving public criticism of a junior artist. Appearing on the EBS program ‘Space Empathy’ to mark her 48th debut anniversary, the veteran singer-songwriter performed a variety of hits including ‘The Man is a Boat, the Woman is a Harbor’ and ‘A Million Roses.’

During the broadcast, Sim reflected on her life and musical philosophy, stating that her music is centered on ‘empathy and comfort’ for those facing hardships. She shared personal details regarding her upbringing and how music served as a source of strength through life's difficulties.

The appearance follows a period of backlash after Sim criticized 17-year-old singer Kim Da-hyun during a trot festival in Jinan-gun, Jeonbuk. Sim had remarked that the young performer lacked an understanding of life and song. Following the incident, Sim issued a formal apology, acknowledging her remarks were inappropriate and caused hurt. Kim Da-hyun later confirmed that the two had spoken privately and the matter had been resolved. Sim is scheduled to hold a solo concert, ‘The Sim Soo-bong Show,’ in Wonju on the 31st.
