Simandou project advances with new locomotives and Wabtec partnership

The Compagnie du TransGuinéen (CTG) is advancing the operationalization of the Simandou railway corridor through new equipment and strategic partnerships. Six new locomotives have been received in Guinea to bolster the capacity of the CTG as the project moves toward progressive operational phases. This infrastructure is designed to connect the mining zones of Beyla and Kérouané to the future deep-water port at Moribaya via a double-track network exceeding 650 kilometers.

In a related development, CTG and the American company Wabtec have formalized a strategic partnership in New York titled ‘A Stronger Partnership for Guinea’s Future’. This agreement aims to support the expansion of the TransGuinéen railway network and strengthen industrial and technological cooperation between Guinea and the United States. This follows previous major contracts involving Wabtec, including a $277 million order for SimFer and a $248 million order for the Winning Consortium Simandou (WCS) for locomotives and services.
