SIMAS clarifies entry into AHMSA plant following worker concerns

Former workers maintaining a blockade at the Altos Hornos de México (AHMSA) steel plant in Monclova raised concerns after observing a vehicle from the Sistema Intermunicipal de Aguas y Saneamiento (SIMAS) entering the facility through Gate 4. The ex-workers expressed fears that the unauthorized or irregular entry could be used to remove company equipment from the site.

In response, SIMAS Operations Sub-manager Ricardo Vásquez Falcón clarified that the vehicle entered the plant to perform essential maintenance on clogged drainage lines. He explained that several sewage pipes serving the Braulio Fernández neighborhood and other southern sectors of Monclova run directly through the interior of the AHMSA facilities.

Vásquez Falcón noted that recent rains increased the workload for the agency and emphasized that access to the plant for such repairs is a coordinated necessity, as the infrastructure crosses the steelworks from south to north. He stated that SIMAS maintains communication with AHMSA security to manage these required entries.
