SIMAS faces scrutiny over use of private contractors in Piedras Negras

In Piedras Negras, Coahuila, the municipal water and sewage system (SIMAS) is facing scrutiny regarding its operational capacity. Despite claims from the administration of Jacobo Rodríguez regarding the financial and operational recovery of the agency, private contractors have been observed performing tasks that are traditionally the responsibility of SIMAS.

Recently, personnel from TCS Destapes Industriales y Residenciales were seen addressing a sewage leak in the Tecnológico neighborhood at the intersection of Avenida Fidel Villarreal and Paseo de la Ciencia. This incident follows previous reports of drainage issues and odors in the area. The reliance on external companies for routine maintenance raises questions about whether SIMAS possesses the necessary resources and personnel to manage the city's drainage needs independently.
