Simba reports data breach affecting over 23,000 customers
Telecommunications provider Simba reported a data breach affecting 23,549 customers. The compromised information includes names, identity card numbers, dates of birth, mobile numbers, and email addresses.
The company discovered the breach on September 24 and stated that the issue has since been resolved. Simba noted that no credit card or bank account information was at risk and that there is currently no evidence the leaked data has been maliciously misused. The company is reviewing its security measures for core infrastructure and is working with relevant authorities.
Singapore’s Personal Data Protection Commission (PDPC) is investigating the incident. Simba is in the process of notifying affected customers via email, a task expected to be completed within a week.
