Simba SC and Young Africans SC secure opening wins in Tanzania Premier League

The 2026/27 Tanzania Mainland Premier League season has commenced with notable performances from the country's top clubs. Simba SC secured a hard-fought away victory against newly promoted Kagera Sugar at Kaitaba Stadium. Despite being reduced to ten men in the second half following a straight red card for David Kameta, Simba won the match with goals from Ismail Toure and Elie Mpanzu.

In another opening fixture, Young Africans SC (Yanga) defeated Namungo FC 3-1. The match featured a debut goal from Namibian striker Peter Shalulile, who joined the club following a successful tenure with South Africa's Mamelodi Sundowns. This victory follows Young Africans' recent Community Shield win over Simba SC.
