Simba SC Chairman Murtaza Mangungu Rejects Emergency Meeting, Cites Legal Requirements

Chairman Murtaza Mangungu of Tanzania's Simba Sports Club said he is the legitimate leader elected by club members and that any changes must be carried out according to the club’s legal statutes and by its members. He received an official letter from the government directing an emergency meeting on 2 August 2026, but was told the date was already booked for a marathon, leading him to call off the meeting.

Mangungu warned that some individuals are profiting from the club’s alleged sale and that forged documents have been produced. He noted that investor Mohammed Dewji had suggested four names for new leadership, including Amos Makalla, and asserted that board decisions were taken without proper authority.
