Simcoe County Rovers upset Montreal Roses in W Canadian Championship

The Simcoe County Rovers of the Ontario Premier League secured a major upset in the quarterfinals of the inaugural W Canadian Championship, defeating the Northern Super League side Montreal Roses.

The match, held in Laval, was decided early when Rovers defender Tia Schaffer scored a header from a Teagan Handley corner kick just two minutes into the game. Despite heavy pressure from the Montreal Roses throughout the match, the Rovers maintained their lead to secure a spot in the semi-final stage.

This victory marks the first major upset in the competition's history and makes the Rovers the first Ontario Premier League team to advance to this stage of the tournament.
