Simeulue seafood reaches Japanese market through new exports
Fishermen from Simeulue, Aceh, have successfully expanded their reach into the Japanese market. Following an initial export in September 2026, a second shipment of approximately six to seven tons of fresh fish was dispatched on October 8, 2026.
The exported commodities include octopus, bayam fish, and taji fish. According to Supriman Juliansyah, Head of the Simeulue Marine and Fisheries Department, the octopus is priced at Rp124,000 per kilogram, bayam fish at Rp30,000, and taji fish at Rp10,000.
The export process is managed in collaboration with PT Usaha Mina Meuruke, a private partner utilizing local government cold storage facilities. All products underwent strict quarantine inspections and received Health Certificates to ensure they meet international standards for hygiene and disease prevention. Local authorities hope this partnership, which spans ten years, will boost the welfare of local fishermen and maximize the region's maritime potential.
