SIMEUP collaborates with Vera Health to develop pediatric AI

The Italian Society of Pediatric Emergency and Urgent Medicine (SIMEUP) has entered into a collaboration with Vera Health, a medical search engine used by over 800,000 doctors worldwide. This partnership marks the first time an Italian scientific society has collaborated with the platform, which also serves as an official AI partner for the American College of Emergency Physicians.

The initiative aims to train Vera Health’s artificial intelligence using clinical expertise to ensure the technology is specialized for pediatric care. SIMEUP President Vincenzo Tipo stated that the goal is to develop an AI that is competent and responsible, capable of addressing the complexities of treating children by grounding technological development in clinical knowledge and hands-on experience.

Gianluca Mondillo, a physician and AI expert at SIMEUP, noted that the collaboration will focus on ensuring that AI-generated medical evidence is pertinent to a child’s specific age, clinical context, and individual characteristics.
