Siminalayi Fubara defends Rivers State local government payroll clean-up
Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has defended his administration’s implementation of staff payroll verification recommendations across the state’s 23 local government areas. Speaking during the inauguration of the Omademe Internal Roads Project in Ikwerre Local Government Area, Fubara stated the measure is designed to enforce fiscal discipline and eliminate “ghost” workers.
The Governor emphasized that the payroll clean-up is not politically motivated, noting that the issue of bloated payrolls predates his current administration. He explained that ICT personnel were utilized to ensure a transparent and objective process, aimed at ensuring all employees are captured through proper channels regardless of political affiliation.
