Simmons First National Corp. to close 26 bank branches
Simmons First National Corp., the parent company of Simmons Bank, has announced plans to close 26 branches across its six-state footprint. The closures are scheduled to take effect by December 4, 2026.
In Arkansas, six locations are slated for closure, including branches in Pine Bluff, Fort Smith, North Little Rock, Hot Springs, and Jonesboro. In Pine Bluff, specific locations at 1704 N. University Dr. and 8107 Dollarway Road will close, with customers directed to a nearby branch on Robin Road.
The company stated the decision follows a review of its retail network strategy to align with evolving customer preferences for digital and self-service banking channels. The move is intended to create a more sustainable delivery model and reduce network overlap.
The closures are expected to affect approximately 100 employees, though the company anticipates retaining about 70% of those associates through placement in other positions. Simmons First expects to incur between $20 million and $23 million in aggregate pre-tax expenses related to the transition, including severance, professional services, and real estate write-downs.
