Simon Andriesz, whistleblower on Lutnick-Epstein ties, dies in Thailand

British whistleblower Simon Andriesz, 57, has died in Thailand by suspected suicide. Andriesz, a former managing director at BGC Group, had spent years exposing alleged financial misconduct at the firm and uncovering undisclosed business ties between US Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick and the late Jeffrey Epstein.

Andriesz had provided evidence to the FBI and the US House Oversight Committee, including 2018 emails discussing investment ties to a company called ADFIN. He also alleged that Lutnick attempted to leverage Prince Andrew’s influence to secure investors in exchange for a £1 million loan, a claim BGC Partners denies.

His death has prompted the UK’s Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) to launch a review into how it handled his case. The regulator had previously apologized to Andriesz after incorrectly informing him that he was not entitled to whistleblower protections. While his family stated there are no signs of foul play, his death has renewed scrutiny regarding the treatment and protection of whistleblowers.
