Simon Pegg reveals ADHD diagnosis

Actor and writer Simon Pegg has revealed he has been diagnosed with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). Speaking on the podcast ‘I’m ADHD! No You’re Not’, the 56-year-old stated that the diagnosis confirmed many issues he had previously attributed to character faults.

Pegg explained that he sought a formal assessment because he ‘just wanted to know’. He noted that the diagnosis helped put his childhood behavior into perspective, specifically recalling instances of fidgeting that he had previously overlooked.

The actor also discussed his history with mental health, including clinical depression since age 18 and struggles with alcohol consumption. He expressed that he previously believed he might have developed the condition later in life or that his previous treatments were addressing symptoms rather than the underlying cause.
