Simon Pitard's Brighton mansion targeted in arson attack

The Brighton mansion of property developer Simon Pitard was firebombed on Tuesday morning in what police have described as a “targeted arson attack”. At approximately 1:20 am, offenders rammed the front gates of the Manor Street residence and poured accelerant along the driveway, destroying two luxury cars in the resulting blaze.

The Moorabbin Crime Investigation Unit is investigating the incident. Police confirmed that no injuries were reported during the attack.

Simon Pitard, who was previously banned from managing corporations for three and a half years following the 2019 collapse of Steller Property Group, has faced significant legal and financial scrutiny. The collapse of Steller involved debts totaling $617 million and led to the liquidation of more than 40 companies.
