Simon Trpčevski celebrates 20 years of performing in Tokyo

Macedonian pianist Simon Trpčevski recently completed a series of three concerts in Tokyo, marking the 20th anniversary of his debut in Japan. The performances took place at prestigious venues, including the Tokyo Metropolitan Theatre, the sold-out Suntory Hall, and the Yamaha Concert Hall.

Trpčevski performed with the Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra under the baton of conductor Kazushi Ono, who also led Trpčevski’s debut two decades ago. The repertoire included Rachmaninoff’s ‘Piano Concerto No. 3’, as well as works by Tchaikovsky, Beethoven, Ravel, and Prokofiev.

During his recital at the Yamaha Concert Hall, Trpčevski was called for encores five times. As a gesture of gratitude, he performed arrangements of famous Japanese songs and a version of ‘Ne si go prodavaj Koljo ciflikot’ by Dimitarje Buzharovski, dedicating the performance to earthquake victims to honor Japanese expertise and assistance provided to Macedonia.
