Simona Halep retires with farewell match in Cluj‑Napoca

Romanian tennis star Simona Halep, a two‑time Grand Slam champion and former world No. 1 who spent 64 weeks at the top of the WTA rankings, will play her official retirement match on Saturday, 13 June, at 17:00 in BT Arena, Cluj‑Napoca. The event is part of the Sports Festival 2026 and is reported as sold‑out. Halep announced her retirement in February 2025 and this match marks the final on‑court appearance of her career.

She will be joined on court by fellow players Elina Svitolina, Gaël Monfils and former Romanian star Andrei Pavel, with former coach Darren Cahill also in attendance. The match will be broadcast live on PRO TV, VOYO and streamed on GSP.ro. Halep described the occasion as “a full‑of‑emotion event” and said, “I am deeply moved by the support of the public and the people who helped me throughout my career.”
