Simona Ivanova finishes fourth in 400m freestyle at Youth Olympic Games

Bulgarian swimmer Simona Ivanova narrowly missed a medal at the Youth Olympic Games in Dakar, finishing fourth in the 400m freestyle final. She missed the bronze medal by just six hundredths of a second, recording a time of 4:28.43.

Elvira Espinosa from Ecuador won the gold medal with a time of 4:22.87, while Lia Marksgraaf from South Africa took silver at 4:26.13. The bronze medal was awarded to Celia Pacqué of Belgium.

Despite the close finish, Ivanova is set to continue her competition in Dakar with upcoming events in the 100m freestyle and 200m freestyle. The swimming program has faced challenges due to high water temperatures in the pool, which led to the cancellation of the 800m freestyle event.
