Simona Quadarella wins fourth consecutive European 800m freestyle gold
Italian swimmer Simona Quadarella has secured her fourth consecutive European title in the 800m freestyle at the European Aquatics Championships in Paris. The 27-year-old achieved a time of 8’15″54, missing the championship record held by Jazmin Carlin by just one hundredth of a second.
Quadarella utilized a decisive acceleration in the final 200 meters to pull away from her competitors. Germany’s Isabel Gose took the silver medal with a time of 8’18″44, while fellow German Maya Werner finished third with 8’22″55.
With this victory, Quadarella reaches nine total European gold medals, placing her among the most decorated athletes in the history of the competition. She joins the ranks of Italian sporting legends such as Federica Pellegrini and Emiliano Brembilla in terms of continental success.
