Simone Biles marks one-year countdown to Lima 2027 Games

Olympic gymnast Simone Biles visited Lima, Peru, to participate in the official "One Year To Go" countdown ceremony for the Lima 2027 Pan American and Parapan American Games. During the event organized by Panam Sports, Biles delivered a keynote address to over one hundred national athletes from the Instituto Peruano del Deporte (IPD).

Biles emphasized the importance of mental health and resilience in high-performance sports, noting that psychological well-being is as crucial as physical health. She encouraged young athletes to enjoy their sports to find success and urged them to seek help from adults if they face struggles, including instances of abuse.

The countdown ceremony included Peruvian President Keiko Fujimori and Colombian medalist Karen Palomeque, who joined Biles in marking the official start of the one-year countdown to the games.
