Simone Biles undergoes undisclosed procedure weeks after near‑death health scare
Olympic gymnastics star Simone Biles revealed that she experienced a severe medical emergency in early June 2026, describing it as “one of the scariest experiences of my life” and saying she “almost died.” She posted Instagram photos showing hospital wristbands and wrote, “Almost dying wasn’t on my bingo card.”
On July 22, the day of husband Jonathan Owens’s 31st birthday, Biles shared another Instagram Story from a hospital setting. Wearing scrubs, a hair net and a smile, she posted the caption, “His birthday but he takes me to get my procedure 🥹,” and added that she “woke up singing BossMan Dlow’s ‘Talk My S‑t.’” The nature of the procedure and whether it relates to the June emergency were not disclosed. Biles thanked friends and family for their support, reiterated that she would explain “sooner or later,” and indicated she is recovering and considering her future competitive plans, including a potential 2028 Los Angeles Olympics appearance.
The couple, married in 2023, continues to appear together at public events such as the ESPYs, while Biles remains private about her medical details.
