Simone Fontecchio inaugurates new basketball court in Pescara

NBA player Simone Fontecchio is inaugurating a new basketball court in Pescara, Italy, dedicated to the memory of his grandfather, Vittorio Pomilio. The project, which involved a donation of over 70,000 euros from Fontecchio and support from the NBA Players Association, aims to revitalize the public area at Parco Florida.

Vittorio Pomilio was a prominent figure in Italian basketball, having played for the national team between 1957 and 1960. The Fontecchio family maintains a deep sporting legacy, with Simone’s mother, Malì Pomilio, also having played for the Italian national team.

The inauguration ceremony will include basketball federation president Gianni Petrucci and local officials. Following the event, Fontecchio is scheduled to participate in a three-point shooting competition with local residents. This community initiative comes as Fontecchio prepares for the upcoming NBA season with the Miami Heat and his commitments with the Italian national team.
