Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe: Iaquinta holds lead after Barcelona round

The Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe championship saw intense action during its penultimate round at the Barcelona circuit. Due to extreme weather conditions, the first scheduled race was cancelled, leaving only a single race to be contested on Sunday.

In the overall standings, Simone Iaquinta and Kevin Gilardoni of DL Racing secured a crucial third-place podium finish. Despite Iaquinta earning pole position and the fastest lap, a late-race brake issue for Gilardoni prevented them from maintaining the lead. They head into the Monza finale with a narrow one-point championship lead.

Matias Salonen and Henri Tuomaala of Leipert Motorsport claimed their first victory after a post-race penalty for Jerzy Spinkiewicz promoted them to the top spot. In the Pro-Am class, Pietro Perolini secured a class win for the Oregon Team following a late-lap battle.

In the LB Cup category, Nina Østergaard and Peder Moller-Demant achieved another class victory after securing pole position during qualifying.
