Simonetta Avalle Memorial to return to Rome in 2026

The second edition of the Simonetta Avalle Memorial will take place on September 19 and 20, 2026, at the Palazzetto dello Sport in Viale Tiziano, Rome. This Serie A Women's volleyball quadrangular tournament honors the memory of Avalle, a prominent figure in Roman and national volleyball who dedicated over fifty years to the sport and the training of young athletes.

The competing teams include Ferraro-SMI Roma Volley, Co. Ge Vesuvio Oplonti Napoli, Bartoccini Perugia, and Tenaglia Altino Avastese Volley. The event is organized by the FIPAV Rome Territorial Committee and the FIPAV Lazio Regional Committee, with support from the Lazio Region and Roma Capitale.

Simonetta Avalle, known as the ‘Lady of Volleyball,’ had a distinguished career coaching in cities such as Rome, Florence, Reggio Calabria, Vicenza, Naples, and Arzano. She was instrumental in the development of several elite players, including national team captains and Olympic champions. The memorial aims to celebrate her technical expertise, human values, and lasting legacy within the sport.
