SimonMed introduces AI-powered mammography technology in Arizona

SimonMed has announced it will be the first imaging provider in Arizona to implement GE HealthCare’s Pristina Recon DL, an AI-powered mammography reconstruction technology. The software, which utilizes two deep learning models, will be integrated into the Senographe Pristina system at the company’s Scottsdale Mountain View location. The technology aims to enhance 3D mammography image clarity and improve the visualization of subtle details to aid early breast cancer detection without increasing radiation doses or altering the patient experience.

In the broader field of breast imaging, medical experts are discussing the growing utility of artificial intelligence. Dr. Wendie Berg of the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine noted that AI can significantly increase cancer detection rates during MRI screenings for high-risk patients. Additionally, Dr. Manisha Bahl of Harvard Medical School highlighted findings from the MASAI trial in Sweden, which indicated that AI-assisted mammography improves cancer detection and sensitivity without compromising specificity.
