Simple Habits to Boost Sleep Readiness Revealed in Health Survey

(BPT) – A recent Viactiv® survey of 2,000 U.S. women found that 43% cite stress or racing thoughts and 28% report physical tension as the main obstacles to feeling ready for sleep. The same poll shows that 61.3% watch TV and 48.3% scroll on phones or tablets before bed, while only 11.6% practice breathing exercises, meditation or mindfulness and just 8.8% stretch or do light exercise.

Experts advise several low‑cost changes: add gentle daytime exercise, keep evening workouts light, limit heavy meals and snacks late at night, and put away screens at least 60 minutes before bedtime. Maintaining a consistent wake‑up time, exposing oneself to morning sunlight, keeping the bedroom cool (60‑67 °F) and dark, cutting caffeine after early afternoon, and considering magnesium glycinate supplementation are also recommended. These habits aim to align daily routines with the body’s circadian rhythm and improve overall sleep readiness without costly gadgets.
