SimSimi selected for 4.2 billion KRW bipolar disorder AI project

SimSimi, a conversational AI specialist, has been selected to participate in a national project to develop a digital therapeutic device service platform for bipolar disorder. The project, valued at 4.2 billion KRW, is being promoted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and the Korea Planning & Evaluation Institute of Industrial Technology.

The initiative is led by Minds AI and involves a consortium including Yonsei University and major university hospitals. Running from May 2026 to December 2030, the project aims to digitize interpersonal and social rhythm therapy theories. By integrating and analyzing multimodal data such as sleep, activity, and emotional patterns, the platform seeks to identify and respond to early warning signs of bipolar disorder relapse.

SimSimi will be responsible for developing a multi-agent-based AI counselor engine. This engine will orchestrate agents for user state assessment, lifestyle rhythm management, and risk signal detection to facilitate non-face-to-face conversational interventions. The company plans to leverage its clinical experience from the ‘Dr. SimSimi’ project to enhance its dialogue engine and safety policies.
