Simson moped reimports permitted to reach 60 km/h in Germany

A new regulation from the German Federal Ministry of Transport allows Simson moped reimports to travel at speeds of up to 60 km/h under certain conditions. Previously, these vehicles were subject to more restrictive speed limits, but the change enables owners to utilize the 60 km/h capability with a standard moped license.

This policy shift is expected to impact the Simson enthusiast community and the secondary market for these vintage vehicles. Spare parts manufacturer MZA anticipates an increase in demand for components such as brakes, tires, electrical systems, and engine parts as more owners seek to restore and reimport mopeds from countries like Vietnam, Australia, and South America to Germany.
