Sinai Manganese Company targets 50,000-tonne annual capacity by 2028

Egypt’s Minister of Industry, Khaled Hashem, inspected the Sinai Manganese Company plant in the Abu Zenima Industrial Zone in South Sinai. The company, Egypt’s largest producer of manganese ore, aims to increase its annual production capacity of ferromanganese and silicomanganese alloys from the current 18,000 tonnes to 50,000 tonnes by the end of 2028.

During the visit, Hashem inaugurated a new dust and particulate separation system designed to reduce gaseous emissions and ensure environmental compliance. The facility represents an investment of EGP 2.5 billion and maintains approximately 60% local content. Currently, the company exports about 49% of its output to international markets, including Italy, Libya, and Turkey.

Future expansion plans include projects for kaolin calcination, medical glass, solar panels, and a project to separate iron from manganese. The minister emphasized that these alloys are critical to Egypt’s industrial strategy, serving as essential inputs for the iron and steel sectors to improve product purity and durability.
