Sinaia hosts Trofeul Sinaia 2026 with 89 drivers and 15,000 fans

The Trofeul Sinaia, a premier round of Romania's National Hill‑Climb Championship, took place in Sinaia on the historic Drum Regal track. A record 89 drivers entered, competing on high‑performance cars such as a Ferrari 488 Challenge, a 1,000‑horse‑power Tesla and a Porsche 911 Turbo. The urban circuit, set beneath the Bucegi Mountains and winding past Peleș Castle, attracted an expected crowd of more than 15,000 spectators over the two‑day weekend.

Key contenders included French‑born driver Jerome France, who seeks a third consecutive victory, and Romanian champion Radu Benea, who leads Category I in a Ferrari 488 Challenge. Benea’s 18‑year‑old son, Nicolas Benea, surprised the field in a Seat Cupra TCR, currently second in Group 3. The event continues a tradition dating back to the interwar era, when drivers such as Marin Dumitrescu first raced the royal road.
