Sinaloa agricultural sector seeks dialogue during Sheinbaum visit

President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo is scheduled to visit Culiacán, Sinaloa, on Sunday, September 20. The visit provides an opportunity for agricultural leaders to discuss critical challenges facing the sector as producers prepare for the 2026-2027 autumn-winter cycle.

Agricultural organizations, including CAADES, AARFS, and AARSP, have identified several priorities: access to timely financing, liquidity, improved commercialization, and the availability of inputs. There is also significant concern regarding the timely release of federal support funds for corn and wheat marketing.

In response to these issues, the organization Campesinos Unidos has called for a demonstration during the presidential visit. Spokesperson Roque Alan Castro Menchaca stated that producers are facing severe difficulties due to unpaid subsidies and complex registration processes involving multiple government agencies. The group intends to deliver a formal list of demands to the President, including calls to end grain pricing based on the Chicago Board of Trade to protect regional profitability.
