Sinaloa announces deadlines for driver's licenses and vehicle tax discounts

Authorities in Sinaloa, Mexico, have announced upcoming deadlines for various vehicle-related administrative procedures and tax discounts.

In Guasave, the second period for obtaining a permanent driver's license expires on September 30, 2026. The process requires a single payment of 2,323 pesos and takes approximately 10 minutes for drivers already registered in the state tax administration system (SATES). Since September 1, more than 300 residents have transitioned to this permanent status.

In Salvador Alvarado, the tax collector has highlighted several programs ending on September 30. The ‘Ponte al Corriente’ program allows owners of vehicles from model year 2022 or earlier to regularize debts for a single payment of 6,000 pesos, which includes plate exchange and stickers. Additionally, the ‘Baja Definitiva’ program offers a way to remove unused or scrapped vehicles from the registry for a one-time fee of 3,237 pesos, including fine waivers. Officials warn that failure to deregister old vehicles can lead to accumulating debts and potential legal actions, such as bank account freezes or asset seizures.
