Sinaloa Cartel operative arrested in Mexicali amid Escuinapa violence
In Mexicali, Baja California, authorities arrested Salvador “N”, identified as a suspected financial operator for the ‘Los Chapitos’ faction of the Sinaloa Cartel. The operation was conducted through intelligence cooperation between Mexico and the United States. Salvador “N” is reportedly under investigation by Mexico’s Financial Intelligence Unit (UIF) and the U.S. Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC).
In Escuinapa, Sinaloa, a violent confrontation between armed civilians and security forces resulted in five deaths and seven arrests. During the operation, federal and state forces seized five long weapons, 28 magazines, five tactical vests, and seven ballistic plates. A 49-year-old woman was also injured by a stray bullet while inside her home.
Additionally, in the Bachigualato neighborhood of Culiacán, municipal police prevented an attempted kidnapping. Officers intervened when armed subjects intercepted a vehicle on Calzada Aeropuerto, causing the suspects to flee. The incident left the vehicle with bullet damage to the rear window.
