Sinaloa Cartel operative ‘El 500’ arrested in Mexico

Authorities have arrested Luis Adán, a 32-year-old operative for the Sinaloa Cartel known as ‘El 500’. The arrest took place in the early hours of Saturday, October 3, 2026, in the Villas Costa Rica neighborhood of Playas de Rosarito.

Adán is identified as a hitman and logistics operator involved in armed attacks and drug distribution in the Tijuana area. He is accused of participating in the February 22, 2023, murder of state investigation agent José Alberto Enríquez Martínez outside his home in Tijuana.

During the operation, which was coordinated by the Baja California State Security Force, the National Guard, and the Mexican Secretariat of Security and Protection, officers seized a firearm, doses of methamphetamine, and clothing associated with the criminal group. Adán has a prior criminal record including homicide and crimes against public officials.
