Culiacán, Sinaloa launches vehicle registration deadline, water aid and transparency drive
The State Tax Administration Service (SATES) announced that its vehicle regularisation programmes and the permanent licence application will end on 30 June, urging residents to settle fees of $3,237 or $6,000 pesos to regularise unused or older vehicles.
Mayor Ana Miriam Ramos Villarreal visited the Emiliano Zapata district to hand out 5,000 litres of bottled water under the AQUATÓN 2026 programme, citing donations from businesses and the municipal DIF and noting ongoing construction of water‑treatment plants.
State and municipal officials, led by Transparency Secretary Sandra Guadalupe Angulo Cázarez, held a workshop to reinforce accountability mechanisms, involving the Tribunal of Administrative Justice and control bodies from 12 municipalities.
Security incidents were reported: a young man in a nurse’s uniform was shot dead near an IMSS facility in the Antonio Rosales neighbourhood, and the IMSS confirmed cooperation with authorities after a nurse was detained for allegedly stealing four boxes of tenecteplase worth over 400,000 pesos. A joint military‑state police operation in the Zona Dorada neighbourhood secured a residence after reports of armed individuals and possible stolen vehicles.
Finally, more than 131,000 students received Smart Student Identity Cards, granting reduced public‑transport fares and projected to save families over 1.5 million pesos during the 2025‑2026 school year.
