Sinaloa launches voluntary disarmament program in Culiacán
The Voluntary Disarmament 2026 preventive program has launched in the municipalities of Culiacán and Sinaloa. The initiative allows citizens to safely and anonymously surrender firearms, ammunition, and explosives to reduce risks of domestic violence and accidental or intentional deaths.
Modules are scheduled to operate from September 7 to September 11, between 9:00 am and 3:00 pm. In Culiacán, the module is located at the Polideportivo Juan S. Millán, while in the Sinaloa municipality, it is situated in front of the City Hall.
Ricardo Jenny del Rincón, head of the Executive Secretariat of the State Public Security System (SESESP), emphasized that the program is a coordinated effort between the State Government, the Secretariat of National Defense (SEDENA), and local municipal governments. As part of the initiative, children are encouraged to participate by exchanging toy weapons for educational toys.
