Sinaloa interim governor begins term amid security crisis

Graciela Domínguez Nava has assumed the interim governorship of Sinaloa amid a severe security crisis characterized by violent conflict between organized crime factions. The state has recorded 744 homicides between January and July of this year, and currently holds the highest rate of femicides in Mexico.

In response to the instability, Domínguez Nava announced the upcoming development of an Integral Plan for Governance and Security, which will be coordinated with municipal authorities and the federal government.

While the governor has also focused on economic support, such as distributing equipment to 220 entrepreneurs through the Equipa Sinaloa program, political opposition leaders have expressed skepticism. Critics from the PRI and the Sinaloa Party have called for institutional independence, arguing that the interim administration must distance itself from the previous administration to effectively address the state's violence and economic challenges.
