Sinaloa authorities and SADER launch support for fishing and agriculture
The Mexican federal government and the Sinaloa state government have launched a coordinated effort to support the region's agricultural, livestock, aquaculture, and fishing sectors. Following instructions from President Claudia Sheinbaum, SADER Secretary Columba Jazmín López Gutiérrez and Governor Graciela Domínguez Nava held several working sessions with local producers to address economic and operational challenges.
In the fishing and aquaculture sectors, authorities are working to modernize fleets, optimize operating costs, and improve commercialization channels. Key proposals include dredging and desilting bays and navigation channels to improve species reproduction, particularly for shrimp. Additionally, producers will have access to financing through the ‘Cosechando Soberanía’ program and improved inspection and surveillance to protect the national market from imports.
For the agricultural sector, specifically mango producers in southern Sinaloa, the government announced measures to combat a difficult season. These include low-cost financing, the distribution of fertilizers, and reinforced sanitary campaigns to manage pests. The initiative aims to transition from emergency responses to a long-term development model that ensures profitability and stability for Sinaloa's primary producers.
