Sinaloa mango production expected to drop to 20 percent of 2025 levels

Mango production in southern Sinaloa, Mexico, is facing a significant decline as the current season nears its end. Porfirio Salas Castillo, a representative for local producers, reported that production is expected to reach only 20 percent of the levels recorded in 2025.

Estimates suggest that while 150,000 tons were exported last year, this year's volume may only reach approximately 30,000 tons. The decline is evident across local orchards; in Escuinapa, many growers reported minimal or even zero harvests. Despite the scarcity, higher prices have partially mitigated the economic impact, with prices recently fluctuating between 5 and 10 pesos per kilogram.
