Sinaloa police seize AK‑47, drugs and arrest armed suspect as violence claims four lives

In Culiacán, Sinaloa, a joint operation by the state’s Special Operations Group, the National Guard, the Army and other security agencies detained an armed civilian who arrived in a Volkswagen Passat. Officers recovered an AK‑47 rifle, a 5.56 mm machine gun, more than 550 cartridges, tactical gear, a vehicle and quantities of suspected fentanyl and methamphetamine. The suspect was handed over to the Federal Public Prosecutor’s Office for investigation.

Separately, federal and state forces responded to a surge of violence across Sinaloa that left four people dead in the municipalities of Escuinapa, Mazatlán and Culiacán. Bodies were found in a roadside location, a provisional wooden house and along a highway, all showing multiple gunshot wounds. Authorities secured the scenes, collected evidence and are pursuing the perpetrators.
