Sinaloa political crisis: Morena rejects disappearance of powers

Political tension is rising in Sinaloa as the Morena party has rejected calls to request the ‘disappearance of powers’ in the state. Arturo Ávila, a Morena spokesperson, stated that legal conditions for such a request have not been met because state institutions continue to function. He also opposed the return of officials currently under investigation to their posts.

In contrast, Ricardo Anaya, coordinator for the PAN, argued that declaring the disappearance of powers is necessary to restore governability in Sinaloa. Rubén Moreira of the PRI also demanded that the current governor, who is on leave, face pending accusations, citing a deterioration of the state due to violence and political scandal.

The selection of an interim governor to replace Rubén Rocha has been delayed. Local Morena legislators reported that the decision will not be made by the state congress but will instead come directly from the party’s National Executive Committee (CEN) and the federal government. Legislators are currently awaiting instructions from national leadership to proceed with a vote.
